German II

- Business German: letters, advertisements, business development, employment
- Landeskunde/civilisation: geography, history, political science
- Kulturkunde/fine culture: literature, art, music, film

Knowledge:
- have an overview of modern European history and German speaking countries from year 1900 till present date
- have a basic knowledge of culture in German speaking European countries (art, literature, business culture)
- understand the main aspects of Germany's financial development since the second world war
- have a basic business vocabulary in German
- have an overview of geography in European German speaking countries

Skills:
- be able to communicate in German with good pronunciation and intonation
- be able to read and understand the main content of written and oral texts (adapted and authentic) in different genres
- be able to participate in unprepared conversations within different and actual topics
- be able to articulate, orally and in writing, experiences, views and attitudes, wishes and emotions
- be able to communicate orally regarding language and different aspects of the geography of German speaking countries
- be able to exploit various sources of authentic German texts
- write texts in different genres

Competence:
- be able to compare and reflect upon different aspects of traditions, customs and way of life in German speaking European countries and in Norway.
- be able to react and communicate appropriately when meeting persons from German speaking countries in various social and business settings.

Pedagogiske metoder:
Oral and written student activities, individually and in groups, with a special focus on oral activities. Projects, role play, lectures and student oral presentations.    

Obligatoriske arbeidskrav:
4 written assignments to be submitted in addition to a minimum of 1 oral presentation (5 - 10 minutes) in class all of which must be passed in order for students to sit the final exam.

Previously approved mandatory assignments do not need to be handed in again for later exams.
