Ancient Literature

This course is an introduction to Greco-Roman literature, studied in translation. The texts represent different genres and are studied in their historical context.

A candidate who has passed the exam is expected to have the following learning outcome:

Knowledge

• Basic knowledge about ancient Greek and Roman literature, its function in contemporary times, its transmission and its importance in the European history of literature.

Skills

• Ability to identify literary genres and see connections in the history of literature

Lectures and seminars.

Four learning activities (group presentations), where three out of four possible are mandatory.
