Bachelor's thesis in Comparative Literature

The Bachelor's thesis is an independent work in comparative literature. The student should develop the ability to carry out a personal research work on a large scale. Students will gain insight into information processing and evaluation of research and methods within a relevant subject.

The bachelor’s thesis is normally written in Norwegian. If the thesis is written in English or in another non-Scandinavian language, the students must include an abstract in Norwegian in their thesis.

Candidates who have passed this course have the following general competence and skills:

The candidate is

- able to articulate and delimit a scientific research question

- able to analyze and organize collected information, including existing research on their chosen topic, and present it in writing

- able to apply the scientific terminology and methods required in a piece of academic work

- able to write a longer academic text

Supervision, following on from student's work.

Obligatory assignment:

- Approved topic for bachelor's thesis and project outline (1 page)

- Approved reading list consisting of approximately 1000 pages of text chosen according to the student's research interests.

Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).
