- Background for international business
- International environments (cultural, economic, political, etc.)
- Internationalisation and globalisation forces
- Theories and institutions for trade and investment (international trade theories, cross-national cooperation and agreements, governmental influence on trade, etc.)
- Financial environment (foreign-exchange markets, exchange rates, institutions, etc.)
- Strategy, structure and implementation (international business strategy, market (country) evaluation and selection, export and import strategies, direct investment and collaborative strategies, etc.)
- The organisation of international business
- Managing international operations (marketing globally, global manufacturing, supply-chain management, etc.)
- Some central issues in international business, accounting and finance (corporate governance, transactions in foreign currencies, transfer pricing, global capital markets, taxation of foreign-source income, etc.)
- International business and human resource management
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- Be competent in using the terminology of the field
- Have in-depth knowledge of the central foundations for doing international business, both in terms of formal and informal institutions
- Have knowledge of globalization trends and effects of global integration
- Have knowledge of different strategies connected to international business
- Understand the international competitive dynamics and how to develop global strategies
- Have particular knowledge of multinational corporations and how these are governed
Skills:
- Be an active and interesting discussant for international business actors
- Be able to analyze problems within international business by using relevant models
- Be able to communicate and explain fundamental prerequisites for internationalization
