Towards Carbon Neutral Buildings - Design of Zero Emission Building Sand Plus Energy Houses

In the first part, an introduction to theory and principles for the design of zero-emission and plus energy buildings is presented. Examples of solutions and presentations of realized projects from Norway and other countries will be given. An introduction to the use of relevant calculation methods and programs will also be given.

The lecturers on the course have specialist expertise in various subject areas which are central to design and construction of plus houses. The examples and principles presented are based on both national and international projects, research results and experiences, with the main emphasis on Norwegian/Nordic conditions.

In the period between the two gatherings, there will be homework in the form of a project assignment. The course participants will be divided into interdisciplinary groups that will work together to design and document a plus energy building. There is an opportunity to start from projects that the group participants are involved in through their practice.

At the second gathering, the group work will be presented, and you will receive feedback from the course instructors. The project assignment will be the basis for assessment (pass/fail) in the course.

Be able to master methods and tools for planning and documentation of energy use and indoor climate.
