About this course

Content

Principles of light and colour, visual perception of light and colour, shadows, the impact of light source form, distribution of light in space, modelling of small and large objects, interaction between light, colour and architectural space, lighting sources: daylight and electrical light, sustainability of illumination.

Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing students with:

Knowledge about light as a phenomena and as a visual stimulus, NCS colour system and the effect of colours and natural/artificial light in an architectural context.

Skills in usage of a visual analysis method for evaluation of architecture with special focus on light and colour design.

General competence about the modelling of room as well as modelling of small/large objects in the context of sustainable architecture

Teaching methods

The course will consist of 1/2-day seminars beginning with a lecture and followed up through assignments, demonstrations or full-scale tests in the room laboratory (ROMLAB) or daylight laboratory where the sky and sun simulators are ready for use.

This course is offered to incoming exchange students and will be taught in English if necessary.
