Housing Design Knowledge

The course will give an increased knowledge of the basis for housing design. It will give an overview of relevant architectural elements of housing, housing typologies and premises for planning and production of housing and housing areas.

Knowledge: The candidate has ... - advanced knowledge related to the current topic of the project assignment(s) in the subject AAR4510 Housing Design. - detailed knowledge of selected architecture and / or plans of high quality. - advanced experiential knowledge of the relationship between architectural representations in different formats and architecture and / or cities and towns that are in use over time. Skills: The candidate ... - is able to critically assess and recognise quality in architecture and / or plans and make use of such assessments in her own architectural work. - is able to formulate an academic text on architecture. - is able to navigate within research and development in the field of architecture. The course consists of lectures, seminars and presentation of assignments.

An optional excursion can be arranged as part of the teaching of the course. At the start of the semester the course leader will inform the students whether an optional excursion will be arranged. Students who participate in optional excursions must expect to pay a share of the expenses. For students who do not participate in optional excursions, an alternative will be offered.
