Architecture and Landscape

Architecture in northern landscapes is discussed through surveys related to programme, place and built form. The course provides the students with experience in planning and designing buildings or groups of buildings. How can elementary components such as landscape form and situation, availability and communication, room programme and building structure be brought together in a mutually integrated context in a design process?

The exercises in the course are design work exercises to be developed based on compulsory field-work and local sources of information, which is to be discussed in seminars. Drawing, modelling and photography are the most important tools in this process. English and Norwegian communication is a feature of the course.
