Housing Design

The course is an integrated part of a unit consisting of a design studio and a course with a more analytical input. Therefore, this course should be taken in combination with AAR4814 Housing Design Knowledge. Some elements may be taught in a cooperation with other relevant courses.

Skills: The candidate ... - is able to give form to residential architecture and / or urban plan (based on one or more project assignments) through artistic and scientific investigations, concept development and architectural design in relevant scales and formats. - is thoroughly trained in the use of architectural methods, tools and expressions and can apply these in architectural design and / or urban planning in a targeted, professional and experimental manner. - is able to apply architecture as a field of knowledge in her own architectural work; its theory and history, as well as its technical, scientific, social and cultural basis. - is able to apply advanced aesthetic and practical understanding (tacit knowledge) in her own architectural work. The course is conducted as one or several design excercises related to new housing, or renewal and refurbishment of dwellings and housing areas. Students work individually or in groups. Drawing and model making forms the main core of the studio. Teaching will be conducted as lectures, seminars, discussions and critics, as well as regular tutoring individually and in groups.
