Architectural Design of Large Buildings 1

The course is an integrated part of a unit consisting of a design studio and a course with a more analytical input. Therefore, this course should be taken in combination with "AAR4870 Architectural Design of Large Buildings - Theory and Method 1". Some elements may be taught in a cooperation with other relevant courses.

The course is conducted as one or several design excercises related to public buildings. Students work individually or in small groups. Drawing and model making forms the main core of the studio. Teaching will be conducted as lectures, seminars, discussions and critics, as well as regular tutoring individually and in groups.

Optional excursions can be arranged as part of the teaching of the course. The course coordinator will inform students at the start of the semester if there will be an optional excursion. Students who participate in optional excursions must expect to pay a small share of the expenses. For students who do not participate in optional excursions, an alternative will be offered.
