Form and Colour 2

• Color theory - Basic color theory through different color systems. Evaluate and describe the character and properties of colours using colour terminology.
• Color phenomena - The interactions of color, how light and shadow affect the perception of color and the impact of color on space and shape.
• Pattern formation - Pattern formation through practical exploration in two- and three-dimensional form. Learn how new patterns are formed through repetitive sequences, and how color affects pattern formation.
• Visualization - Axonometric drawing and color drawing are used as survey tools to three-dimensional form. Digital and analogue collage techniques are used to further develop models in spatial context
• Painting technique - Skills exercises with practical colour mixing and painting techniques.
• Gestalt - Aesthetic interaction between form, composition and use of colour in two- and three-dimensional form ratios

Learning outcomes

The student must have acquired basic knowledge and understanding in the subject area colour, composition in two- and three-dimensional form and drawing. By practicing skills through practical work coupled with theory, students must put knowledge in context with architectural issues. The student must have developed a good understanding of concepts, and be able to express ideas precisely about aesthetic issues by using professional terms.

Didactic Methods - Through practical exploration, the basis for technical, theoretical and intuitive learning is formed.

Subtasks in the drawing room - Knowledge and skills are acquired through practical subtasks. The answers are solved both individually and in groups. Assignments in the spring semester are based on knowledge from the autumn semester based on students' professional competence.

Joint reviews in the drawing room or in the auditorium.

Lectures in the auditorium - All assignments are introduced through academic context to the perspective of architecture, design and art.

Guidance - Individual guidance in the drawing room together with a team of teachers. NB! Attendance in the hall is important.

Joint discussion - the subject ends with an academic discussion where transfer to the architectural context is at the centre.
