Knowledge:
- Basic knowledge of the concept of Tectonics, focusing on wood as material.
- Basic knowledge of the property, the application and the aesthetic of wood as a building material.
- Basic knowledge of the concept of place (tophology), focusing on urban space and clarify layers of meaning working with qualities from a specific place.

Skills:
- Applying a variation of working methods underlining the experimenting and artistic method of the course.
- Proportioning of space and spacial relations.
- Applying properties of the building material and qualities of place as sources of creating architecture.

General competence:
- Application of theoretical and practical knowledge as well as use of individual skills and experiences in a creative process of shaping form, investigating architectonical possibilities.
- Ability to collect and apply necessary practical and theoretical knowledge of: building materials, building technology, and aesthetics in a creative forming process.
- Consciousness of scale.
- Basic understanding of architectural theory as a field.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Conciousness of studying and working on an ethical foundation.

The semester is based on project related studies with focus on idea development, methods and tools of the profession, in addition to lectures and workshops. The work will be done both individually and in groups. Tutors will follow up all works during the semester, with input from student peers. The semester puts weight on self-reliance, cooperation / teamwork and the student’s understanding of professional practise and methods.
